Mike McNeil

Mike McNeil holds a bachelors degree in music from Carleton University and is a full time professional performing/recording musician based out of Ottawa, Canada. In his capacity as a teacher, Mike strives to provide music education in a relaxed environment. His goal is to help students reach their musical goals.

        He has toured Canada and The U.S.A. as a professional musician, worked as a cruise ship show band musician, worked as a graduation recital adjudicator for the Carleton University Music Program and since becoming a full time musician in 2007, has performed on over 2000 gigs/recordings in a wide range of musical styles both locally and abroad at major music festivals, concert halls, event centers, special events, weddings, restaurants and more.

        Mike has performed live with many artists including Bill Pinkney's Original Drifters, Billy Richards' Coasters, Melisa Pash (Canadian Aboriginal Music Award Winner), Steve Marriner (Juno Award Winner), Cory Mervin Coons (Winner of the 2014 Producers Choice Award for Studio Album of the Year by the Los Angeles Music Awards), Stéphanie St-Jean (2016 Winner of La Voix/The Voice Canada), Boom Desjardins (Juno Award Nominee and Lead Singer for La Chicane), Neil McDaniel (East Coast Music Awards Nominee), Etienne Drapeau (Top 10 Finalist on "Star Académie"), Christian Marc Gendron (Roch Voisine) and Marie-Ève Fournier (from La Voix/The Voice Canada Season 2).

        His education includes studying with world class drummers Paul Delong (Juno Award Winner), Mark Kelso (who has worked with Herbie Hancock, James Taylor amongst others) and Chuck R. Burrows (world class drum set instructor) as well as other instructors.

​

         As a reliable musician with a great professional track record, Mike always strives to do his part to help make music that a group can be proud of in a positive atmosphere with other musicians/artists. He is always interested in meeting and making music with other artists in many different styles (original music as well as cover/tribute).
