Elizabeth  Bruce

Elizabeth Bruce sings and plays piano, and is comfortable teaching classical and contemporary styles. Elizabeth teaches students of all ages, encouraging good vocal technique and musicality. Elizabeth also offers private instruction for those interested in developing their songwriting skills.

Elizabeth obtained her Bachelor of Music Degree and graduated with Great Distinction from McGill University in Montreal. She has comprehensive education in theory, ear training, music history, orchestration and ensembles. She studied classical voice with Beverley McGuire and Gabrielle Maes, and has her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music certificate in piano.

 

Elizabeth is a singer/songwriter who performs under the stage name Libby Hortop. She accompanies her songs on autoharp or piano. Elizabeth’s first album, “As We Sadden Each Other to Sleep,” was released in 2007. Her second album, “The Silent I Know,” was released in 2013.

 

Elizabeth's goal is to help students become fluent in the language of music for the purposes of self-expression and communication. She aims to present them with strategies to improve their musical abilities, and opportunities to apply this knowledge.
