Saxophonist Patrick Denison has been performing for audiences for over twenty years. After studying with Mike Tremblay he moved to Toronto in 1999 to study with saxophone legend Pat Labarbera.
While in Toronto he also studied flute and clarinet with Mark Promane.
Patrick is a graduate of the Humber College Jazz Performance program, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree. Patrick performed with the Humber “A” Band, the Hilario Duran Cuban Jazz Ensemble, the Humber College Wind Ensemble, and groups led by John MacLeod and Kirk MacDonald.
Since moving back to Ottawa in 2006 Patrick has been busy as a musician, performing at most of the major venues in Ottawa and in styles ranging from bebop and swing to modern jazz, blues and rock.
Patrick has taught students of all ages and is able to tailor lesson plans to suit the needs of any student. Over his years of teaching Patrick has learned to present the concept of jazz improvisation in a fun and engaging way that is approachable by anyone.
He also teaches in classical and pop styles has extensive experience coaching high school and middle school level concert and jazz bands.
